Venerable Samdech Khy Sovanratana

Venerable Samdech Khy Sovanratana is graduated with a BA in Buddhist Studies, and a MA in Buddhist Philosophy with a Distinction Pass, from University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka. He also obtained a Post-Graduate Diploma in Education and Pedagogy from the National Institute of Education, and a Diploma in Administration from Royal School of Administration, and another MA in Public Law from Royal University of Law and Economics, Phnom Penh, Cambodia, and a PhD in Buddhist Philosophy from University of Delhi, India. In recognition of his vast scholarship and outstanding work, His Majesty Norodom Sihamoni, the King of Cambodia, has conferred upon him several ecclesiastical titles in the Supreme Sangha Council of Cambodia, the last being “Samdech Mahā Ariyavaṃsa” or “His Eminence”, the highest Royal Title in Cambodian Buddhist Sangha. Currently, H.E Prof. Dr. Khy Sovanratana is the Acting Rector and Professor of Sihanoukrāja Buddhist University, Cambodia, Deputy Secretary General of Supreme Sangha Council of Cambodia, and a Personal Senior Advisor to His Holiness Samdech Tep Vong, the Great Supreme Patriarch of Cambodia; A Deputy Secretary General, Asian Buddhist Conference for Peace, ABCP.H.E Prof. Dr. Khy Sovanratana

Shantum Seth – in English

Shantum Seth is an ordained Dharmacharya (Dharma Teacher) in the Buddhist Mindfulness lineage of the Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh and teaches in India and across the world. He has been leading pilgrimages ‘In the Footsteps of the Buddha’ and other multi-faith, educational, cultural, spiritual and transformative journeys across diverse regions of India and Asia since 1988. He is actively involved in educational, social and ecological programmes including work on cultivating mindfulness in society, with educators, the Central Reserve Police Force and the corporate sector amongst others. This is pioneered by the non-profit trust, Ahimsa www.ahimsatrust.org of which he is a co- founder. Shantum Seth has been a consultant on films including ‘Life of the Buddha’ made by the BBC and Discovery and Michael Wood’s  ‘The Story of India’ made by BBC and PBS. He had helped Mira Nair when she was working on her film version of the Buddha with Warner Brothers and Martin Meissonnier while he was working on the Life of Buddha for Arte (French TV). He has contributed to a number of books including, ‘Walking with the Buddha’, ‘Planting Seeds…Sharing Mindfulness with Children’, and ‘Volunteers against Conflict’.

David Loy – in English

David Robert Loy is a professor, writer, and Zen teacher in the Sanbo Zen tradition of Japanese Zen Buddhism. Loy is a professor of Buddhist and comparative philosophy. He is a prolific author, whose essays and books have been translated into many languages. His articles appear regularly in the pages of major journals such as Tikkun and Buddhist magazines including Tricycle, Lion’s Roar, and Buddhadharma, as well as in a variety of scholarly journals. He lectures nationally and internationally on various topics, focusing primarily on the encounter between Buddhism and modernity: what each can learn from the other. He is especially concerned about social and ecological issues. His BA is from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, and he studied analytic philosophy at King’s College, University of London. His MA is from the University of Hawaii in Honolulu and his PhD is from the National University of Singapore. His dissertation was published by Yale University Press as Nonduality: A Study in Comparative Philosophy. He was senior tutor in the Philosophy Department of Singapore University (later the National University of Singapore) from 1978 to 1984. From 1990 until 2005, he was professor in the Faculty of International Studies, Bunkyo University, Chigasaki, Japan. David Loy is one of the founding members of the new Rocky Mountain Ecodharma Retreat Center, near Boulder, Colorado.

Joaquim Monteiro – em português

Joaquim Monteiro (Shaku Shoshin) é formado em Psicologia pela Universidade Santa Úrsula, do Rio de Janeiro, tendo continuado sua carreira acadêmica no Japão e em Taiwan, países onde lecionou em instituições de Ensino Superior. No Japão permaneceu 18 anos, entre 1985 e 2003, onde se formou no Seminário Buddhista de Shinshu Otani-ha da Tradição Terra Pura, em Kyoto, em junho de 1987. Em 1997 transferiu-se do Higashi Honganji para o Honpa Honganji sendo sacerdote nessa escola. Posteriormente cursou o mestrado e o doutorado na Universidade Soto Zen Buddhista de Komazawa, em Tóquio, onde se especializou no estudo do Buddhismo Chinês, e recebeu o título de Doutor, em março de 2000. É autor de diversos livros.

Alex Terzi – em português

Alex Terzi é professor do Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia do Sudeste de Minas Gerais (IF Sudeste MG), Campus São João del-Rei. Possui graduação em Direito e Licenciatura em Letras. É especialista em Língua Portuguesa pela PUC – MG (2004), mestre em Letras pela Universidade Federal de São João del-Rei (2006) e doutor em Linguística e Língua Portuguesa, pela PUC – MG (2014). Seus trabalhos de pesquisa e de extensão têm se voltado para análise da interface Linguística, Educação e Mindfulness (práticas meditativas). É Instrutor de Mindfulness, certificado pelo MENTE ABERTA – Centro Brasileiro de Mindfulness e Promoção da Saúde, da Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP) e Instrutor em Kindfulness: Mindfulness Integral e Harmonia Emocional, certificado pelo Instituto de Ciências Contemplativas para Estudos Avançados da Mente e Promoção da Saúde. É pós-doutor, com a pesquisa intitulada “A construção enunciativa do desenvolvimento profissional docente: análise de narrativas de professores e de alunos de licenciaturas após participação em protocolo de Mindfulness”, nas áreas de “Estudos da Linguagem”, pela Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto (UFOP) e “Mindfulness”, pela Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP).
